Community

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

The P&C aims to promote the interests and objectives of the school by providing a forum for bringing parents, teachers and interested community members together in the common cause of providing quality education. The P&C raise funds for essential items to support the school's educational programs.

The Taylor P&C Association is affiliated with the ACT Council of P&C Associations.

Parent Associations - Taylor Preschool

Children attending our preschool are supported by their parent association. This group works with the Canberra Preschool Society and the Education Directorate to support early childhood education. Their fundraising provides the preschool program with equipment.

Parent Helpers

Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education. In the Junior School parents play a vital role by running the home reader program. They hear children read each morning and change their home readers. Other parents are involved by:

  • helping in the canteen
  • joining class groups during excursions
  • assisting helping during gym lessons
  • coaching and managing school sporting teams
  • belonging to the P&C and School Board

This support is very much appreciated by the staff at the school. All volunteers and helpers in the school should make an application for a 'Working with vulnerable children' check.  Our front office staff can assist you with this.

Communication between home and school

Taylor recognizes the importance of regular communication between home and school. We acknowledge that it helps us all work together on a child's education and well-being. Making an appointment to speak to your child's class teacher will ensure that both parties can give the subject of the meeting adequate time.

Communication occurs formally and informally through parent/teacher evenings, phone calls, emails, notes, letters, the newsletter, oral and written reports.
